One great way to make your chorus more interesting than the verse is to think backwards. Don’t just make the chorus busier and full of pointless tracks. Instead, head to the verses and strip them down.

This so true, never realized it before! I think the OPPOSITE can work as well depending on the song. You know, making the verse huge and the chorus intimate. A good example of that is “Hurt” by Thousand Foot Krutch. The verse is full drums, bass, and walls of guitars, while the chorus is just piano vocal.
And beleive it or not,this trick is one of the tricks that your best pluggin might not be able to do for you
