It’s a no brainer to try and use your entire stereo field when mixing. And sometimes it can be a great idea to move vocal harmonies from dead center to hard left and right. This is especially true if it changes during the song. It will grab the listeners attention as the vocals go from one solo location to all the way across the stereo plain.
Two Clicks Away From A Dynamic Mix
Honestly, today’s tip is so simple and can be done in almost literally two clicks in your DAW. But these couple of clicks will take your mix from being static and “just ok”, to being dynamic, interesting, and exciting. The listener is following the vocals almost exclusively in a mix, it’s the centerpiece. So any chance you get to make a slight change to the vocal and harmonies, you can bet it will have big impact on the mix.

GREAT work, as always, GRAHAM!
If I may add to this another simple tip, if applicable to the tune,
Try raising the chor../anything repeated, up a semitone or 2.
Old; yes- but still can wake the listener up if they’re stuck in 1st gear..
Your dope man… thank you so much for your tips and your time. I k now both are valuable.
@Tommy – what!?

T O raise the pitch of the sung by a semi-tone or two on a repeated chor. or towards the end. Done alot in the 50′s and the beatles.
Oh! Ok. Now I see… Thanks! That’s cool my friend:-)
God bless!
Hello Grahm I use to have so much respect for you, you seem so friendly and understanding on video. But you have no time to answer a question from the little guy. I;ve been in contact with many Pro Engineers, who took the time to answer questions.
I was so impressed when guys like Chuck Anley, Dave Pensado, and a few more took the time to help a Newbie, I,am 60 . and I taught my kids what goes around comes around. It’s sad, the way you Ignore people, I know your probably growling at me, take a look in the mirror, Again, I thought you were better then that,
Take care and GB. Bill McDonald
Bill, I’m sorry I just now saw your FB message (I messaged you back) and it turns out I missed an email from you the day my baby daughter was born a few weeks back. The past few months have been a whirlwind, so as a family man yourself I’m sure you can understand.
Please know that I’m actually the opposite of who you painted me out to be in this comment. I respond to just about every single email and request that comes my way (which is a lot these days). It just so happens that I have missed your message(s). I would hope you would show some grace.
If you send me an email with a question I will do my absolute best to respond and help in any way I can. It’s what I do every day.
