Have you ever wanted to stretch a piece of audio, say a vocal, a little longer than it was recorded? Maybe the note needed to be held over to the downbeat or you just wanted to change things up in a remix. In either case you need to stretch it and you want it to sound unaffected. Fortunately most DAWs have workarounds for this and Pro Tools is no exception.
In this video I’m going to show you the quickest way to simply stretch a vocal line without it affecting the pitch or audio quality in the slightest. Hope this helps!

in Protools You don’t have to cut the Regine , Just use the ELASTIC TIME !
Absolutely. Elastic Time is a great way to stretch vocals…but if you just need to stretch out a note or two, it’s far easier and faster to do it this way. Elastic time means having to analyze the track and take up more processing power which I only use if I want to do a lot of edits on the track. Otherwise it’s overkill.
you are Absolutely Right
HI Graham !!!
First of all , many thanxxxx for all thoses tips on protools it’s just huge …
I actually have a problem using the TCE trim with timeshift …. i’ve done everything you did in your video but at the end, the only thing i have is an empty region/clip ???
Any idea or solution ??
Thanx in advance and please continue to post your amazing videos ..
(sorry for my english … im french)
Hi Nico, this sounds like a Pro Tools bug to me. What version are you using?
Okay, it works now but another issue …
I am on PT 10.1 ….
I tried to use the Audiosuite plugin , it worked like a charm.
I used the “male voice” preset to stretch a note on a vocal part , the quality after processing was acceptable.
But when i use TCE (with the same preset in preference Time shift ; male voice) the quality is really bad !
i can hear the dither and the voice become like robotic ….
I kinda have the feeling that it does not append in YOUR video (the vocal note you stretched seems to still sound natural despite the processing ) ? Am i wrong ?
once again sorry for my english i hope you’ll understand what im tryin to say …
Thanx again for replying so fast
